Rajmund Bynedykt Dominik

Ray smiles for one of his first portraits ever, in 1917Rajmund Bynedykt Dominik was born February 10, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois.  He chose to go through life as Raymond Benedict (Ray for short).  He was named after his mother’s brother, Father Rajmund Bynedykt Galkowska.

Ray smiles for his senior portraitHe was the only child of Andrew J. Dominik (1886-1969) and Malvina Galkowska (1889-1970).  His parents were from Krakow and Sanok Poland, respectively.

Ray poses with his family at his portrait studio in Phoenix, ArizonaRay married Sophie Mary Fisher in 1942 in Chicago, Lake County, Illinois.  The couple had three children together: Laurel Ann, Karen May, and Claude Raymond.  The family is pictured to the left circa 1950.

Ray reads a story to his grandchildren Amy and AndrewRay owned a very popular portrait studio called Bedford Photography in Phoenix, Arizona.  He graduated with an AA degree from Notre Dame University in Engineering, and used his skills to work for UniDynamics in Phoenix for many years before retiring in 1981. 

Ray passed away on August 7, 2002 at Kindred Heart Hospital of Phoenix.  His cremains are at rest at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
