He was the third in a line of ten children from his parents Newton Leroy Cole (1886-1959) and Wilhimena Isabelle Sheets (1886-1953).<\/p>\n<p>His siblings were: Hazel Fern, Earl Leroy, Edith Lillian, Howard Glenn, Allen Lloyd, Robert Dale, Junior Leroy, Edward Lee and Beverly Lorain.<\/p>\n<p>Lyal married his wife Agnes Berniece Barkley on February 23, 1929 in Valparaiso, Indiana.  Together they had eleven children: Duane Lyal, Lorraine Agnes, Blaine Eugene, Wayne Lee, Elaine Berniece, Darlaine Jo, Laine Robert, Marlaine June, Charlaine Ann, Arlaine Rita, and Zane Lynn.<\/p>\n<p>Lyal Newton was very much a family man.  He was a member of the Valparaiso Moose Club and the Church of the Nazarene.  He was employed for much of his life at the Bearing Division of McGill Manufacturing in Valparaiso.<\/p>\n<p>Lyal is shown here in July 1952 holding his grandson, Douglass Lyal.<\/p>\n<p>He died on August 7, 1955 at the age of 42.
