{"id":520,"date":"2007-07-01T07:43:19","date_gmt":"2007-07-01T15:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=520"},"modified":"2011-01-06T10:35:41","modified_gmt":"2011-01-06T18:35:41","slug":"sophie-mary-fisher","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/genealogy\/our-family-pages\/genealogy-private-placeholder\/andrew-arthur-green\/karen-may-dominik\/sophie-mary-fisher\/","title":{"rendered":"Sophie Mary Fisher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"lightbox[SMF]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/02272.jpg\" title=\"Sophie with her little sister Wanda\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/02272.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Sophie with her little sister Wanda\" \/><\/a>Born Mary Sophie Fisher on October 21, 1924, she chose to be known as Sophie for the remainder of her life.\u00c2\u00a0 The land she was born on is currently the north runway for Chicago O&#8217;Hare International Airport in Illinois.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[SMF]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/00266.jpg\" title=\"Sophie poses in this grade school portrait\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/00266.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Sophie poses in this grade school portrait\" \/><\/a>Sophie was one of four children born to Leopold Fisher (1887-1964) and Bernice Jedrzejczyk (1883-1961).<\/p>\n<p>Her siblings were: Leopold, Wanda and Bernice.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[SMF]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/02432.jpg\" title=\"She earned her eigth grade diploma from Wicker Park Elementary\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/02432.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"She earned her eigth grade diploma from Wicker Park Elementary\" \/><\/a>Sophie married Raymond Benedict Dominik in 1942.\u00c2\u00a0 The couple had three children: Laurel Ann, Karen May, and Claude Raymond.<\/p>\n<p>Sophie was a very proper woman.\u00c2\u00a0 She always wore very nice clothing and makeup.\u00c2\u00a0 Her husband owned a photography studio, so there are many professional photos of the family still in great condition.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[SMF]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01552.jpg\" title=\"Studio Portrait\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01552.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Studio Portrait\" \/><\/a>It is very ironic for her birth home to be part of O&#8217;Hare&#8217;s runway, as Sophie died of lymphosyphoma (suffocation) related to cancer on her way back home to Phoenix from a hospital in Las Vegas.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[SMF]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01554.jpg\" title=\"Studio Portrait\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01554.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Studio Portrait\" \/><\/a>She passed away during an airplane ride while flying over the Grand Canyon on June 26, 1962, at the very young age of 37.\u00c2\u00a0 Sophie is buried at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nA Matter of Public Record: Sophie Mary Fisher<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1930 US Census, State of Illinois, DuPage County, Addition Township, ED 14, Sheet 5B, Image 10\/35, Line 82<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born Mary Sophie Fisher on October 21, 1924, she chose to be known as Sophie for the remainder of her life.\u00c2\u00a0 The land she was born on is currently the north runway for Chicago O&#8217;Hare International Airport in Illinois.
