Mona Island.\u00c2\u00a0 He was caught in a typhoon in October 1943 and his ship was immediately dry-landed and dismantled.\u00c2\u00a0 He was classified MOMMS2: Motor Machinist Mate, Second Class.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[MEG]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01778.jpg\" title=\"Wife Velma with Max at their daughter Barbara\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wedding\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01778.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Wife Velma with Max at their daughter Barbara\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wedding\" \/><\/a>He married Velma Isadora Bostic on July 19, 1941 and spent the next sixty years with her.\u00c2\u00a0 The couple had four children together: Barbara Joan, Jerald Max, Denise Joann, and Deborah Jo.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[MEG]\" href=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01777.jpg\" title=\"With wife Velma at their grandson John Hilland\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wedding\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jessicagreen.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/01777.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"With wife Velma at their grandson John Hilland\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wedding\" \/><\/a>Max was a volunteer at the Maricopa County Fair and at Chandler Compadre Stadium, as well as at Chandler Vaqueros Saddle Club.
