Vondall Euart Jarrell was born September 8, 1899 in Sandyhook, Elliot County, Kentucky.  He was the fourth of eleven children born to his parents, George Maywood Jarrell (1867-1946) and Emily Florence Jarrell (1874-1945).  Note his mother’s maiden name was Jarrell before her marriage to George circa 1890.  The family changed their name to Fitzgerald between 1920 and 1930 while living in Porter County, Indiana.

Vondall’s siblings were: Tressa Dane, Morril Merideth, Charles Aubrey, Oscar Edwin, Esther Leone, Guy Elman, Ruth Marie, Edna Elizabeth, Mac Vernon, and Cloma Helen.
 
Vondall married Jennie Mae Fisher on October 10, 1925 in Hebron, Lake County, Indiana.  The couple had fifteen children together: Kenneth Euart, Leonard Harold, Dorothy Louise, Donald Morris, Lewis Victor, Katherine Alice Florence Mae, Richard Delos, Robert William, Delmar James, David Lee, Charles Larry, Roy Allan, Thomas Dean, and Bruce Dale.

This is a rare four-generation Fitzgerald photo circa 1975.  Vondall is shown here in the center with his wife Jennie on the right.  His seventh daughter Florence Mae Fitzgerald is behind him.  His grandson Douglass Lyal Cole holds his great-granddaughter, Kathleen Mae Cole.

Vondall died September 27, 1978 at age 79 in Valparaiso, Indiana.  He is buried in Hebron, Indiana.
