Bernice Jedrzejczyk
July 1st, 2007 by Jessica

Bernice Jedrzejczyk (pronounced YEN-JAKE-SHICK) was born March 26, 1883 in Poland. Her father’s name is unknown, but her mother’s first name was Marcina (pictured bottom left; she was blind).

We’re not positive that Jedrzejczyk was her father’s surname. It is possible that it was her mother’s maiden name, but unlikely.

Bernice had one brother who came over from Poland with her. His name was Walter Nieiviadomski. When he came through Ellis Island, they changed his name to Walter Andrews.

Bernice married Leopold Fizer I, presumably in Poland, sometime before 1909. The couple had four children together. Their only son, Leopold Fizer II, was born in Poland in 1909. The couple’s three girls were born in the United States in Illinois: Bernice (1912), Mary Sophie (1924), and Wanda (1926).

She passed away on December 02, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona. Bernice is buried next to her husband, Leopold, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
