Velma Isadora Bostic was born April 16, 1923 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana. She is the only child of Arch Leland Bostic and Alta Permelia Taylor.
Velma married Max Earl Green on July 19, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan – just before he left for World War II. The couple had two children in Michigan: Barbara Joan and Jerald Max.Â
They moved to Tucson, Arizona in the late 1940’s after Max returned from overseas. The couple had two more children: Denise Joann and Deborah Jo.
Velma was very close to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid card player, gambler and bingo player. She enjoyed going to the casinos when possible. She lived in Chandler, Arizona until her death on December 11, 2004. She is buried alongside her husband of 60 years, Max Green, at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Arizona.
