Velma Isadora Bostic

Velma poses while reading a bookVelma Isadora Bostic was born April 16, 1923 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana.  She is the only child of Arch Leland Bostic and Alta Permelia Taylor.

A school portrait of Velma, about age 13Velma married Max Earl Green on July 19, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan – just before he left for World War II.  The couple had two children in Michigan: Barbara Joan and Jerald Max. 

This photo was hand-colored and is signed “All my love, Velma”They moved to Tucson, Arizona in the late 1940’s after Max returned from overseas.  The couple had two more children: Denise Joann and Deborah Jo.

With husband Max circa 1983Velma was very close to her children and grandchildren.  She was an avid card player, gambler and bingo player.  She enjoyed going to the casinos when possible.  She lived in Chandler, Arizona until her death on December 11, 2004.  She is buried alongside her husband of 60 years, Max Green, at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Arizona.

Grandma, we will miss you!
