Alta Permelia Taylor was born February 07, 1889 in Osgood, Ripley County, Indiana.
She was one of two children born to John Randolph Taylor (1847-1892) and Lavina Isadora Knapp (1856-1915). She had one older sister named Lulu Mabel.
Alta married Arch Leland Bostic on November 22, 1914 in Ripley County, Indiana. The couple had one child: Velma Isadora in 1923.
Alta was known as Baw Baw for much of her later life. Her granddaughter, Barbara Joan, started calling her that when she was a baby because she couldn’t pronounce “Grandma”.
Baw Baw was one of the most creative women who ever lived. She was always making up games for the family to play together, writing beautiful poetry and short stories, and had elaborate tastes in jewelry and furnishings.
Baw Baw passed away on August 10, 1981 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona. She is buried next to her husband at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Ripley County, Indiana.
