Sophie with her little sister WandaBorn Mary Sophie Fisher on October 21, 1924, she chose to be known as Sophie for the remainder of her life.  The land she was born on is currently the north runway for Chicago O’Hare International Airport in Illinois.

Sophie poses in this grade school portraitSophie was one of four children born to Leopold Fisher (1887-1964) and Bernice Jedrzejczyk (1883-1961).

Her siblings were: Leopold, Wanda and Bernice.

She earned her eigth grade diploma from Wicker Park ElementarySophie married Raymond Benedict Dominik in 1942.  The couple had three children: Laurel Ann, Karen May, and Claude Raymond.

Sophie was a very proper woman.  She always wore very nice clothing and makeup.  Her husband owned a photography studio, so there are many professional photos of the family still in great condition.

Studio PortraitIt is very ironic for her birth home to be part of O’Hare’s runway, as Sophie died of lymphosyphoma (suffocation) related to cancer on her way back home to Phoenix from a hospital in Las Vegas.

Studio PortraitShe passed away during an airplane ride while flying over the Grand Canyon on June 26, 1962, at the very young age of 37.  Sophie is buried at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
